The Bed Shaper is used primarily to form raised beds that are uniform in size and shape. After first preparing the soil with the Rear-Tine Tiller orPower Harrow, one pass with the Bed Shaper can create a raised bed approximately 2" to 4" high and 30'' wide -- perfect for laying a plastic mulch with the Plastic Mulch Layer. With additional passes, raised bed height of up to 6" is possible.
The Bed Shaper consists of two disc hillers, clamps, and a drag chain fastened to a 45'' Straight Bar. BCS actually made their straight bar too short at 39.5", so we make the straight bars ourselves, here in TN. They are 45". The hillers can be adjusted to any position on the straight bar. When turned inward and set closer than 30'', the height of the bed can be increased to a maximum of about 6''. When re-positioned and turned outward, the discs can hill plants or form furrows for planting.
Unique to the design of the BCS Bed Shaper are heavy-duty clamps with serrated locking teeth that prevent the disc shanks from rotating, even under significant soil resistance.
Mounted to the tractor's PTO via the required Tool Carrier Kit, the carrier also provides the ability to accommodate a wide range of other implements ranging from Cultivators to a Root Digger, to ridgers and sub soilers.
To avoid soil compaction within the bed from tire tracks, Wheel Extensions are available to position the wheels in the walkways between beds.

PRICING:
We sell 2 brands of the Bed Shaper: one by BCS and the other partly made by BCS and partly by us. Both brands are made in Italy. Both brands work very well when connected to the tractor PTO. Both brands allow for multiple other "drag" type attachments with the same tool carrier and draw bar. You do NOT need to buy additional tool carriers or drawbars to switch between (sub soiler, root digger, bed shaper, cultivators and ridgers. You only need 1.) BCS brand bed shaper has nicer clamps for the disc hiller AND it also comes with a 2nd set of clamps that allow one to connect a single or double ridger onto the toolbar for marking off beds and or hilling. Also, the BCS tool carrier has a nicer and more comfortable angle adjustment via a knob instead of a straight metal rod on the AB type.
